PRIMARY STUDENT HEALTH PLAN
All registered students residing in any/all university provided housing and international students attending classes on a F1 or J1 Visa are automatically enrolled in the Florida Blue BCBS Primary Student Health Insurance Plan unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished and a waiver is granted by the University on or before the start of classes of the enrolling semester.
All other undergraduate students taking 9 or more credit hours, all undergraduate nursing majors, all division of Medicine and Anesthesia, all other graduate students taking 4 or more credit hours, or taking a thesis and students attending a Barry University Distant Satellite Campus taking 9 or more credit hours are eligible to enroll in the Primary Student Health Insurance Plan.
The Open Enrollment Deadline to enroll for Annual coverage is 9/30/13.
The Primary Student Insurance Plan wavier process must be completed through MyBarry prior to the checking in to university housing and/or prior to the first day of classes. Barry University requires that all students residing in University provided housing or attending classes on an F1 or J1 visa are required to provide proof of insurance that meets the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
SUPPLEMENTAL ACCIDENT & ATHLETIC INJURY STUDENT HEALTH CENTER PLAN
All students residing in any/all University provided housing are automatically covered under the Student Accident & Athletic Student Health Center Plan on a per semester basis based on enrollment in the University. This plan will provide coverage for visits at the Student Health Center in addition to Accident and Athletic Injury Only coverage. This plan cannot be waived. However, placement on this plan does not eliminate the requirement for students to maintain a personal primary insurance plan or to complete the waiver for primary insurance.
Commuting students and Graduate students may enroll in this plan by contacting the Student Health Center. We strongly advise our students who are enrolled in the health related majors such as Nursing, Podiatric Medicine, Physician Assistant and Nurse Anesthesia to consider enrolling in this Supplemental Accident & Health Plan for enhanced accident coverage (includes treatment due to a needle stick injury or exposure to bodily fluids) and 100% coverage when treated at the Student Health Center for primary health care needs, with the exception of certain prescriptions and vaccinations, and laboratory testing such as blood work or other tests that need to be sent to an outside laboratory, may be subject to a co-payment or coinsurance.
You may also enroll in this plan by visiting the Barry University SHC on campus in Landon Student Union Room 104, Phone (305) 899-3750.
